Trachrycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm)

One of the few evergreen palms which will survive outside in the British Isles. Will grow in any ordinary, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Needs to be positioned so it is not exposed to cold north or east winds. Can also be grown in a cool conservatory or glasshouse where it's mid-green, pleated, fan-shaped leaves will add interest
