Punica granatum (Pomegranata)

A lovely deciduous tree which will grow in well-drained soil. It will not do well on cold sites and needs a warm, sunny, south or west-facing wall as protection. The young, coppery leaves turn fresh-green for summer and then yellow in autumn. Vivid scarlet flowers are borne June to September and if you are lucky any fruit produced will ripen in the open.
