These hardy evergreen perennials originate from New Zealand and are grown for their bold, stiff, strap-shaped foliage which gives an architectural appearance. Unusual flower heads can develop from July to September. They will generally survive outdoors in deep, moist soil and a sunny sheltered position. The species plant has deep green leaves, P.t.'Purpureum' has bronze-purple leaves, P.t.'Variegatum' has leaves striped green and creamy-yellow. We often also have samples of the smaller growing P.cookianum and its variants which are characterised by their thinner textured more lax-growing leaves and would be pleased to quote for your requirements.
