The mulberries are hardy deciduous trees which are worthy of consideration for any garden. They prefer sunny, sheltered positions where they will not be exposed to north and east winds. The soil need not be too fertile and poor chalky, or light sandy types suit them best. The foliage often turns golden-yellow in the autumn.
This lovely, compact, weeping, tree has bright-green, heart-shaped leaves. It will produce small, raspberry-coloured fruits which become black when ripe and are then sweet to taste but not very large as this form is not grown for it's fruit.
