Laurus nobilis (Sweet bay)
This is the classis aromatic, frost-hardy evergreen with culinary uses. Grow in any ordinary garden soil in a sunny or semi-shaded position, sheltered from the coldest and frost-bearing winds. Also suitable as a subject for a cool conservatory providing the plant is placed out of direct sunlight. Informal uses included hedging/screening.
