Danae racemosa syn Ruscus racemosa

This charming evergreen subject does best in a moisture retentive soil and whilst coping with sunny sites it has a preference for cool, shady positions. It is somewhat upright and bamboo-like but there the resemblance ends. The green stems bear elegant, glossy, dark green arching phylloclades (stems adapted as leaves). The greenish-yellow flowers, which appear in early summer are usually followed by bright, orange-red berries.
