Arbutus unedo

Large evergreen shrub or small tree. The bark is rough and reddish-brown in colour. The leaves are dark green, shiny and slightly toothed. Small white bell shaped flowers in late summer followed by small red fruits which ripen in the second year. 
Grows well in neutral or acid soils.
